System status
Required: Following the guidelines for system status is mandatory.
Banners make it easier for the users to trust the system because it gives a transparency about system events and are utilized to convey a message.
First rule of Jacobs Nielsen's 10 usability heuristics
Visibility of system status - The design should always keep users informed about what is going on, through appropriate feedback within a reasonable amount of time.
As of 15.5 Major release, there are 2 types of banners available to convey system status.

Messages are included in banners to convey various types of relevant information to users. There are 4 standardized message types and each is associated with a color, which includes:
Information
Banners of this message type appears in blue and is used for general, non-severe announcement. The information banner is used when there is a message relevant for all the users.
Warning
Banners of this message type appears in yellow and is used for warnings. A warning is when the user needs to take action to be able to avoid some kind of error.
Error
Banners of this message type appears in red and is used for errors. These are errors that can happen even though the user have not performed an action. The error banner should not be used to tell the user that their action was unsuccessful.
Success
Banners of this message type appears in green and is used when a successful action or event has occurred. A success banner is used to provide users with positive feedback and serves as a confirmation of a successful action or event.
Concise and easy to understand
Banner messages should be concise while still being clear and easy to understand.
Do: "We're having problems with connecting to the server."
Don't: "There was an error"
Complete sentences
Always write the messages in sentences and end with a period.
Do: "We're having problems with connecting to the server."
Don't: "Server connection error"
